RV Legal Limits in Texas
One important note about Texas for those that are non-residents. Don’t speed, I know there are public service signs everywhere that say “Don’t Slow Texas Down”, but should I ever enter this state again, I will slow Texas down! I was traveling down a highway entering a town, they had the speed sign behind a construction sign and a cop behind the speed sign. Something right out of the Duke’s of Hazzard movie. Unbelievable!
I rolled into town doing 9mph over the 35 miles per hour required. The nice little police lady had no pleasantries nor professional courtesies for us that day. I asked her where to pay the ticket and her reply was you figure it out. Since she was in such a Jolly mood I thanked for her time and went back to RV, then googled the county seat and worked my way back from them there.
The ticket was $300 plus a $200 court fee, plus sales tax, and recorded as a criminal misdemeanor! Come on, where we are from that is an infraction that only means something to your insurance company for a few years. I was also told by the clerk that if your state requires a special license such as a CDL Texas would pull your CDL on the spot, meaning no licecense. She also said if I had been doing one more Mile Per Hour she would have placed me in jail until all the money was paid. Texas residents have their records cleared if they get no other tickets for nine months. I want to visit my relatives who are in Texas again, but I might just hire a driver!

We loved our stay at this park. 60 full hookups, 34 power and water only, 32 vacation lease & 55+ units. There is a nice boat launch space that I used to get down to the river. There are lots of deer to see, so many, that one might wonder if it is illegal to hunt them in Texas. They have every amenity we have seen in other full service parks. Hot tub, pools, horseshoes, shuffle board, mini golf and more. This park, was designed as destination park for those from the Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.
Pull all the way to the gate even if there are cones in front of it. When saw the cones, we thought the gate might have been broken. They were rather impatient with our lack of understanding, but got us to the gate. While they process your entry papers, your rig blocks the road, but never fear, it is customary to block the road to the entire park. Those pulling into the center get angry about waiting for you to register, and some even wave. Unlike other TT parks, it takes a full 10 minutes to register as they check your license, walk around your vehicles and write down your plates, hold your TT card until you come back with your site number. This can cause a long wait for people to turn in to the activity center parking lot, but this only happens once per rig entering the park. If people are patient it’s no biggie, but something must have been in the air the day we pulled in. Hopefully by the time you read this, the process checking in has been improved. All the Thousand trails, “Welcome / Registration” processes are being looked at and often revised. Some of the new welcome centers are great.

Well I am sure I could come up with more to say, but next to Lake Texoma, this was our favorite park.
